Adoption Contract
(1) All kits that are offered for adoption are guaranteed to be healthy, to the
best of my knowledge. I will not offer chin for adoption if I am aware that
he/she is in anything other than excellent health. The same applies to
youths and adults that I may have up for adoption.
(2) You are encouraged to have your new chinchilla(s) examined, at your
expense, by a qualified exotic pet veterinarian of your choosing within 10
days of pick up, to verify that it is healthy. This is also to give the vet a
base for what the chin is like when it is healthy, should it become ill at a
later date. Also, should the vet find anything at all wrong, at this time, I
must be notified immediately, and I must receive a copy of the vet's report
that states his/her findings, and I must receive the chinchilla(s) back in
reasonable condition in order to give a refund or replacement, at my
discretion.
(3) Due to the fact, once the chinchilla leaves my home, I cannot control their
diet, housing, handling, environment or general care, in the event of illness
or death within the first 10 days, I must receive a written report from a
qualified exotic pet veterinarian that clearly states the cause of illness or
death. Refunds or replacements will not be given in cases of injury or
questionable care. Exceptions may be made at my discretion. Any and all
veterinary charges are the sole responsibility of the adopter.
(4) If you decide this chin is not for you, at my discretion, minus the
quarantine and vet fees, I may, or may not, take back the chinchilla. It
depends on the circumstances at the time.
(5) When a chin is adopted from me, after verification from a qualified
exotic pet veterinarian, if there is any genetic problem that develops within
the first year, I will refund or replace your chinchilla.
(6) If this is a "rescue" or "pet only" adoption, the adopter agrees not to
breed the adopted "rescue"/"pet only" chinchilla(s). Should the chin be put
into breeding, at anytime, at my discretion, the chinchilla will have to be
returned to me, in good health and no refund will be made. This is to
assure continued good breeding lines associated with Luv 'N Chins'
chinchillas.
(7) Any and all legal fees associated with this contract, will be the sole
responsibility of the person adopting the chinchilla(s).

| A personal note: I am a hobby breeder and raise chinchillas and offer them for adoption because I want others to enjoy the same pleasure I have received from my chinchillas. During the time I grew up a verbal agreement, a hand-shake and/or your word was all that was needed. Unfortunately, times have changed. The reason for this contract is due to two people that adopted chinchillas from me and then did not hold to their side of the verbal agreement.
